{"id":1077,"date":"2011-09-17T13:18:04","date_gmt":"2011-09-17T20:18:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.brianschiff.com\/?p=1077"},"modified":"2011-09-17T13:19:13","modified_gmt":"2011-09-17T20:19:13","slug":"3d-hip-core-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.brianschiff.com\/?p=1077","title":{"rendered":"3D Hip &#038; Core Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have had the pleasure of authoring a bi-weekly column for PFP&#8217;s online magazine entitled <strong><em>&#8220;Functionally Fit&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> for over three years now. \u00a0This column gives me a creative avenue to display my specific training techniques and teach others how to build a better functional body in the process.<\/p>\n<p>One of the greatest things about exercise is all the different options, variations and tweaks available to bring about a desired physical change in the human body. \u00a0As Alwyn Cosgrove once said, &#8220;Exercise is like medicine.&#8221; \u00a0By this, he means the right dosage and application is critical. \u00a0I could not agree more.<\/p>\n<p>As training and rehab continue to evolve and become even more intertwined, we as practitioners need to continue seeking ways to get more from our exercises. \u00a0I personally use lots of different training tools in my trade, but I am always seeking to get the biggest return on my exercise investments. \u00a0Today, I am sharing one such exercise with you, the 3D Mountain Climber with Hip Extension. \u00a0Check out the video below:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"425\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iVjqdIjYtgM?hl=en&#038;fs=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In this video, I am working to improve shoulder, hip and core stability as well as strongly encourage hip disassociation.  Many clients I train and rehab simply are asymmetrical or cannot disassociate their hips which leads to flawed movement patterns and leaks int he kinetic chain.<\/p>\n<p>I used this exercise in our core training series we were doing with the Carolina Hurricanes in their pre-season conditioning sessions that we just recently completed.  It is not easy, but delivers so much benefit for just one movement.
